Course Description:

We are currently experiencing an explosion of evidence around the concept of "pain science".  This course is structured to discuss the basics of pain neurophysiology and to present the best available evidence on treatment strategies for those in pain.  Emphasis will be placed on describing how our understanding of pain has shifted from a biomedical  to a bio-psycho-social model.  The instructor will highlight current CDC guidelines for pain management, as well as the current cost vs. benefit ratios on commonly used treatment strategies.   He will provide the APTA's stance on this subject and will discuss the results of its national campaign, #ChoosePT.  The course will include an interactive lecture and post-course discussion.   Filming, pictures, tweeting, live-streaming is all encouraged.
