Objectives:
1. Describe the benefits of exercise on brain health.
2. Discuss mechanisms of neuroplasticity in relation to exercise.
3. Identify practical methods to adapt exercise interventions for people with cognitive impairment. 
 

Ellen McGough, PT, PhD is the Chair and Program Director of the URI Physical Therapy Department.  She moved to Rhode Island from Washington State in June 2021. She has extensive experience in PT clinical practice, education, and research from previous clinical and faculty positions at the University of Washington. She is actively involved in research that aims to improve physical performance and prevent mobility problems in adults with neurodegenerative disease and age-related decline.
