Spasticity Management with Intrathecal Baclofen Pumps — a 30-40 minute presentation followed by question and answer session.
Presenter: Dr. Keith Scarfo
Dr. Scarfo is Board-Certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He graduated from Philidephia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College - Thomas Jefferson University. He then completed a fellowship in pain medicine at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He currently serves as the director of the intrathecal pump program at RIH’s Norman Price Spine Institute and as an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Brown University’s Warren Alpert School of Medicine.
Objectives: Following presentation, participants will have an understanding of:
- Underlying principles of spasticity and intrathecal medication delivery
- Identifying patients that may be appropriate for an intrathecal baclofen pump
- Baclofen pump trial process
- Pump placement procedure and recovery
